Really nice staff, very helpful, the rooms are really clean and they have a pretty nice section of breakfast. Located right in the centre of Edinburgh so it is only a short tram ride to the shops or landmarks, definitely will be staying here in the future again :)

Adequate as a hostel in the city centre. Walkable to Waverley Station and Princes Street, but tram station is closed by and it is good for family with young kids (consider the family tram ticket). Our room is on the quiet side and the view is quite good. The full breakfast is great but unlike England YHA where kid got free breakfast with paying adult. The only complain is the bunk bed is a bit low and I bumped my head quite often.

Great location, clean room, friendly staff. A great place to stay for a few nights or longer. Would highly recommend staying here.

The Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel is a nice hostel that is very central in location (Given the name, lol) but the reception was lovely and we had a great room. It was a good place to have a rest after the hectic travelling and I liked that the rooms were of good value. There are a lot of places to visit that are nearby and it's great for public transport too!

Although the location and the service are great, the actual rooms are not. The lobby of the hotel looks amazing, yet the rooms are very much not. My bed was filled with hair the moment I arrived, there was mold in a hole of the wall and the windows are unable to block the noise that comes from the main road.

Lovely hostel. Clean facilities. Pleasant staff. The ensuite facilities are great rather than the usual facilities shared by lots of rooms. Great location for bus station and tram from the airport stops right at the door.

We were really looking forward to stay at this 5 star hostel. We had booked a private room ensuite and on the main homepage (hostelingscotland) was a picture of a really nice room with towels on the bed. What we got was exactly like an ordinary doorm room with bunk beds. The room was a bit dilapidated and in the toilet the lamp was broken and switched off after only 4seconds - and it got pitch black. This was extremely annoying and the kids didn’t want to use the toilet. It was dirty in the corners as well. There was to my surprise no towels either. On the upside - the shower had the best water pressure I ever felt! The radiator had spots on it like someone had thrown up, or splashed something. The bed was okay but we could feel the springs in the mattress. The bedsheets was clean and nice. The lobby was really nice looking. Sadly people had spilled so there was spots on the sofas. During the time we were here it was not possible to by alcohol from the bar/cafe. The kitchen and dining area was good but there could have been more glasses. The luggage service was excellent. If you expect this to be a normal hostel and not something five star, you will have a good stay.
